Having a blast

Today was blast-off day at rocket camp. Yesterday the campers had started making real rockets, and this afternoon a small crowd gathered on the field to watch them being launched.

Conditions were perfect - blue sky and little wind, and it wasn't even too hot and humid for the spectators sitting in the sun. I was surprised at just how high the rockets flew before floating down again under their mini parachutes. The kids all managed to retrieve theirs, but the science teacher used a more powerful grade of engine which sent her rocket so high we briefly lost sight of it, and she will have to go exploring in the woods beyond the field if she ever wants to see it again.

All in all it seems to have been a great week of camp for the Boy, and he would gladly do it all again.
