Five Rivers Environmental Education Center held its official 40th birthday celebration today. There were speeches, and a cake. A guitar band played music, and games were laid on for younger visitors. Friends of Five Rivers served popcorn and lemonade.
The DEC Commissioner turned up on his bicycle, which set the tone of the event - easygoing, low key. People mostly enjoyed just milling about in the sunshine, glad to be there to mark the anniversary of such a special place.
So, hip hip hooray for Five Rivers! Much loved by so many (including me). Here's wishing it at least another forty more years to come.
