We messed about at home most of the day, trying to get the house and garden ready to leave. In the evening we pedalled round to the local play-park, where the Boy demonstrated his mastery of the rings. If he has learnt nothing else at school this past year, he has certainly learnt how to swing like a monkey.

The monkey bar kid
Today's main achievement was getting the Boy to the hairdressers. We had to promise we wouldn't tell him how lovely he looked afterwards, since he got fed up with all the compliments last time his hair was cut. He was very happy when we caught up with his father and sister in a cafe and the Man greeted him with a resounding "You look awful!"
