Another Quiz Night - so of course, another romp to victory by the Amnesiacs...
Or that was the assumption.
But. A less than aerodynamic paper plane, and the misguided confidence of a team-mate that Glens Falls had been voted one of the best places in America to live in 2005 rather than (duh) the town where we were sitting...and we were foiled. Because of course, it was a bonus question. We'd actually done staggeringly well on the other rounds, mainly by exercising some nifty guesswork (there's quite a lot of skill in guesswork, you know), and if we'd only bagged those additional five points we could have swaggered home with our heads held high.
Instead, we came second.
Ah well. There'll be more quizzes, more chances to shine. Though there's a sinking feeling in the team that we may have already peaked, that our glory days are behind us, and now we face nothing but a slow slide into ignominy.
