It has been bright and beautiful and, as promised, very cold today. It didn't get above 16F (around -9C). A gusty wind made it feel even colder, and I didn't spend too much time outdoors. Cross-country skiing was cancelled for lack of snow (we've had a little snowfall since Monday's rain, but it hasn't amounted to much), so I went shopping instead and bought myself a snug down jacket.Tonight the weather forecaster is issuing dire warnings of frostbite for anyone foolish enough to venture outside with exposed skin. We'll likely be down to 0F (approaching -18C) overnight. Even with a new jacket, I'm not planning on going anywhere.
