My young friend E5N1 came round to keep me company this morning, so that was very enjoyable. Then I had to attend to some Fair Trade matters before pulling my sack of sewing gear together and driving through the pouring rain to school.
It has rained and rained today. Coupled with temperatures in the 50sF it has felt, in the midst of winter, like a monsoon. Steam was rising off the remains of the snow. The not insubstantial homemade ice-rink in our neighbour's backyard has been melting all day into our backyard, which now looks like a swamp.
I was rather sad to watch so much snow disappear over the course of the day. We could well see more before the season's out, though. There will certainly be low temperatures again - we should be back below freezing by the end of the week.
Note for your diary: listen to Gardeners Question Time on Feb 5th or 7th. Ninja and I went along to the recording in Linton last night, and it was most entertaining.
ReplyDeleteSadly Ninja's question didn't get picked, perhaps it was too blantantly publicising Linton Bookfest. Had we had a plumbago struggling against a south facing wall, we'd have been fine.
I'm putting those dates on my calendar right now...
