"You've been flocked"

...or at any rate, our neighbours have. These flamingos appeared on their front lawn a couple of days ago. Apparently there's a pair of women who go around "planting" them as a way of raising money for Cancer Research. You contact them, give them some money and your friends' address and round they come with their purple flock. According to a small sign, the birds should be on their way again soon. The Boy rather wishes they'd come and roost in our yard.

I'm not sure this fundraiser would work so well in the UK - not so many unfenced front lawns to go at. If anyone tried to plant flamingos outside our Linton house they'd have to hammer them into asphalt.

Tonight the kids have been playing a very argumentative and almost violent game of miniature carpet bowls. Where do they get this aggressively competitive streak from? I can't imagine.
