...unusually mild, actually. The ice has melted away as temperatures have soared up into the 50s. This must be at least a slight relief for those still enduring the power outage.
The children and I spent the day at home, which was fun - if by fun you mean having to play Monopoly for eight hours only to end up losing to a six year-old. Also we had the neighbours' kids round for a while, which is always slightly dicey as the older of the two (who is five) knows no boundaries when it comes to rearranging the Boy's carefully constructed train layouts. Ah well, everyone lived to play another day.
The Man took the Girl to the library this evening and they were gone so long that the Boy started a stamp collection. So far it features US and UK stamps. If you happen to know our address, feel free to send samples for his album. You could even add a letter or a Christmas card in the envelope, if you like...
The Man was disconcerted to see children and grown women at the library with their noses painted bright red, and wondered what strange religious cult was meeting there. It was only on the way out that he saw a leaflet advertising a "Reindeer family event" tonight. Which went some way (but not all the way) to explaining things.
