Ice stops blog

Thursday's ice storm turned out to be the worst to hit the Northeast for twenty-one years. Innocuous looking rain froze up to an inch thick everywhere it landed, bringing down trees, branches and power-lines across the region. Something like a million properties are without power - including ours. I'm blogging from a nice warm cafe, but at home it's freezing for we have no source of heat that doesn't require electricity. But we can't just abandon the house until power is restored (which may not be for some days) because the sump pump in the basement isn't running, but water is and we have to keep bailing out, including through the night, to avoid a flood.

What larks!

So anyway, blogging may be a bit intermittent for a day or two, depending on how things go. Normal service will be resumed in due course.

  1. Hope power is soon restored and that Piglet is helping with the bailing!
