I spent the morning "on retreat" with other Friends of Five Rivers Board members, brainstorming and trying to prioritise the activities we should focus on in the months ahead. It was fun and quite productive, but of course the real challenge will come when we attempt to implement our ideas. It will be interesting to look back a year from now and see what we've actually achieved.
Meanwhile other members of the household were pursuing a range of other activities. The Girl was away at Scout Camp, making a birdbox. The visitors and Boy went down to check out the local farmers' market as it reopened for the season (they found it thriving, with cuddly live llamas as a special attraction). Then the Boy was whisked away by his alternative family while my parents and aunt headed off across the state border to visit the Clark Art Institute.
Once the Girl and I had been reunited at home, we went and met up with the Boy again at an event at the kids' old school. It was good to catch up with a few people we hadn't seen for a while, and although it felt a little strange to be back in a place we're not part of now, still it was a beautiful day just to be hanging out on a field.
As I write, the Man is winging his way home from Vegas - at last. Whether or not he's still in his rhinestone-spangled jumpsuit remains to be seen.
Glad to see that Elvis is alive and well, though those heels must be killing him by now. And you won't be lonesome tonight.
