There was a whole lot of noise going on outside our house this morning around breakfast-time. The neighbours were having some trees taken down: five spindly pines that formed a border between our properties, and a sickly maple. The workmen had them all down and chipped and the stumps ground astonishingly quickly - about twenty minutes from start to finish. We watched amazed from our sitting room window. Our immediate landscape looks quite changed, but on the whole I like it. The Girl is very happy because now her route from our yard through the neighbours' to the school bus-stop is unimpeded by low branches.
It's been a gentle sort of day with the newly-arrived visitors, not venturing too far afield, and featuring some necessary afternoon naps. This evening we all attended the Girl's last concert at her current school. Choirs and orchestras again, much like the January event. The musicians had come on a long way and were playing more advanced pieces. The 5th Grade singers are suddenly looking big enough to be leaving elementary school...which (gulp) is what they'll be doing in just a few weeks from now.
