Sleptover

The Girl's slumber party seemed to go off without too much incident. Inevitably, without too much sleep either, but I didn't have to have much to do with that. We waved the last visitor off at noon and the Girl more-or-less remained slumped in a chair for the rest of the day..

The Boy, at his buddy's house last night, also had less sleep than usual but it didn't stop him and his friend playing a 5-hour marathon game of Monopoly today followed by roller-skating at Guptill's.  He should by rights be a wilted and exhausted creature by now, but he seems cheery enough and wide awake even though it ought at least to feel like bedtime (the clocks went back this weekend, so our sense of time is a bit off kilter).

The Man and I took time out this chilly afternoon to visit Thacher Park and made probably our last hike along the Indian Ladder Trail before it shuts for the winter on November 16th.  Fall colours are definitely on the way out up there.  All those bare trees would look pretty under a covering of snow...
