Result!

So, a slam dunk for Obama.  Thank goodness for that.  But with the Senate and House still much as they were before, how likely is a sudden break out of cross-party cooperation, versus no-business-as-usual?  The odds don't look good.  Gotta hope though, haven't you.  It's all about hoping.

With the call coming rather early, I managed to be in bed before midnight, though the Man stayed up longer to watch as the results from more states came in, and I listened to the President's acceptance speech on the radio at some silly hour.  We're feeling a bit blurry today.

The schools have used the election to introduce the kids both to the process and to some discussion of policies.  A mock election was held, Kindergarten through High School, in which Obama won by about 2:1.  There, Romney, that's what comes of threatening to axe Sesame Street.

We've had a fair bit of political discussion at home, too, which has been quite invigorating.  Though our kids have had about enough of politics for now (well, hasn't everyone?) we're glad they're beginning to engage with it.  After all (to paraphrase that speech I was listening to in the small hours) messy and unsatisfactory though it can be, politics matters...

Even for domestic animals...
