Retail jungle

The Girl went on a hike with her Girl Scout group today, through a preserve round the back of - of all places - Glenmont Walmart.  Apparently a condition of the building permission for Walmart was that thirty-some acres of land behind it should be left "forever wild".

And wild it sounds!  Our intrepid explorers followed unmarked trails (they were being led by one of the girls' dads who does this sort of thing for a living) and the whole experience was, by all accounts, rugged and jungle-like. 

The purpose of the mission was to put up an owl nesting box.  So I expect there'll soon be a satisfied owl settling in to a comfortable modern residence, handy for shops and restaurants.
