As the Man points out, there's not a lot of fun in Monopoly if you don't win. This, I learnt recently, is entirely the original point of the game, which was invented by a Quaker to instruct people about the evils of unregulated capitalism.

Loadsamoney
Since Saturday we've had a family game of Albany Monopoly going on, in fits and starts between other activities.
It became obvious a couple of days ago who was going to win. I was bankrupted yesterday, and the Girl (seeing which way the wind blew) let me take over from her this evening so that I could be bankrupted all over again. Not many minutes ago the Boy's joyful crowing announced that he was, as we had all foreseen, victorious.
Of course winners, like our Boy, don't necessarily get that point.
