Grape expectations

It was indeed slightly hotter today than yesterday. We managed to keep the inside of the house reasonably tolerable (mid-80sF) for most of the day by not drawing any blinds or opening any windows. We were therefore quite shocked by the wave of heat outside the library when we visited around lunchtime. It was at least 98F.

Later in the afternoon, when the Girl had gone to a friend's house, the Boy and I decided to cool off in the pool. When we first rolled back the solar cover the water was an almost bathlike 90F - a record since we've owned it. We enjoyed our swim.

The hot weather is doing no harm to our grapevine, which we planted last summer. It looks like we may even get a harvest from it this year.
