Cat napping

A good thing about Andrew Lloyd-Webber musicals is that you can doze off for a bit and not miss out much on plot. This is especially true of Cats which doesn't really have a plot at all.

The performance was at Proctor's Theatre in Schenectady, where I hadn't been before, so I was happy to go along with the Girl on a trip arranged by her friend's mom. It's quite a large, grand theatre with a good view of the stage even from the back of the gallery where we were sitting.

The production was fine, but in the first half we could only catch about 25% of the words which was a shame for a musical based on poetry. Things picked up in the second half, though the Girl's friend put her head down and snoozed through the slower numbers.

'Expensive nap!' remarked her mother, with feeling.
