First prize is a scenic train ride with the Girl... Nah, not really.
Apart from a very enjoyable lunch with my friend Exile #2 it has been an unremarkable day, so I'll write a few words in praise of National Public Radio.
This is the nearest thing here to BBC Radio 4, except that it is run on a budget of about a dollar a day. It consists of part local, part national and part international broadcasts. So, depending on what time you happen to tune in you might get the regular Albany phone-in on brewing (seriously - every Friday afternoon, all your brewing dilemmas resolved by a panel of experts); or the inimitable Garrison Keillor's 'Writer's Almanac'; or, at three in the morning (always my favourite hour), the BBC World Service. It is unashamedly liberal, educated broadcasting and it shines like a beacon of intelligence through the airwaves of dross (well, not so much the brewing phone-in, though it is surprisingly entertaining).

It was a grim discovery, the Americans had a cow that did Coca-cola on one side and Pepsi on the udder. Ninja
