Skiing is a very exhausting thing to do - if you are a creaky old adult. It seems to have the opposite effect on the children. Even after a whole afternoon on the slopes they've still been bouncing off the walls with energy all evening.
It was good skiing today. The forecast had threatened desperately cold temperatures, which kept quite a lot of people away. In the event it really wasn't that bad, and the four adult learners who showed up (usually there are eleven in my class) appreciated the chance to advance our skills in a smaller group. We had our first trips up the mountain on the chair-lift and a lot of fun coming down again on our skis (more-or-less). Though mostly the "Bunny Hop" is a case of winding your way down relatively sedately, there's one stretch where you just have to point your skis and shoot downhill as fast as you can to gather enough momentum to cross a plateau. Air and falling snow whistling past your ears - it feels great.
