Given that my life recently has been so uneventful I've had to start making stuff up (see yesterday's moose), I was pleased today to be invited up to Saratoga Springs for lunch with my British (except that she's also American) friend there. She served a delicious aubergine (eggplant) soup, followed by an equally delicious slice of chocolate brownie disguised as cake. Then we did some crafty cutting and sticking, making cards, which was fun.
While in the area I took the opportunity to pop into Saratoga's excellently named and well-stocked toy shop G. Willikers.
Does anyone know the origins of the phrase Gee Willikers?
