Today's Friday assembly at school was a belated celebration of Earth Day, so the four year olds joined the Boy's class in singing a Native American-inspired song about 'Mother Earth' (the Boy stood like a statue throughout. Didn't like the song, apparently).
Then some sixth graders demonstrated the wind turbines they'd built in Science. Never mind that the electric fan needed to get them going used a whole lot more energy than the windmills generated, it was still a good effort.
Finally, because Earth equals energy, and dancing can be energetic, someone put on Chubby Checker and we all did the Twist. (Again. Like we didn't last summer.)
Evidently I can't get enough of this sort of entertainment, because this evening the kids persuaded me back to school to watch the student "Talent Show". Music, dance, skits, comedy trombones - the lot. There were a couple of stand-out performances, although many were somewhat reminiscent of shows I've watched from time to time in my own sitting room...
