Every August our neighbour a couple of doors down holds a pig-roast, and everyone on our street (or who has previously lived on our street, or has a friend or relative who lives on our street) is invited. It's quite an event.
Last year's caricaturist was there again tonight, and this time two members of our family stepped up to be sketched for posterity. There was also another animal show, and a magical reappearance by a remarkable illusionist (we happened to end up sitting just to the side of him up on the stage - and we still couldn't see how he did his tricks).
It was a great party, and a nice chance to catch up with neighbours and former neighbours over plate-loads of food. We're now going to finish off our packing, serenaded by live music wafting through our open windows this balmy night.
