Wild goose chase

The Girl had two friends to stay last night (much giggling). The Boy attended a fish funeral at his friend's house this afternoon (much grieving) and now has part shares in a replacement new fish called Buddy (great rejoicing).

This evening we made a family outing to Five Rivers in search of goslings. The last couple of times I've been there to teach, the classes of pre-schoolers have been excited to see the 'baby gooses'. So I thought I'd share the fun with my own kids.

We made a hike out towards the ponds. No geese, though plenty of evidence that we had to try not to step in. Then we came across two baby-less geese who steamed towards us across a pool with a 'Get lost!' look in their eyes. We skirted the water - and suddenly, right by a sign that read 'Goose Pond', we came across two families of geese. Hooray! Then round the corner, even more geese and fluffy goslings.

I think it ranks as the most successful wild goose chase we've ever been on.
