S'no boots

The Girl had left most of her snow gear at school, perhaps under the illusion that this would get her out of a family walk this weekend. Alas for her, we're not that nice.

We found ourselves back at this place, though it was all looking rather different today under many inches of snow. The lake where last time we'd skimmed stones was now just a great expanse of white.

Sad to say, the only member of our party who was properly shod for the conditions was the Boy, and the rest of us just had to get on with the fact that our feet were quickly wet and freezing. (I did have boots on actually, but only the welly kind. They turned themselves into 'snow boots' in the worst possible way - by filling up with snow.)

After a while your feet get so cold that they no longer feel cold, and that's probably the point at which you really need to have arrived back at your car. Fortunately we just had, and so managed to get home again with all our toes still on.
