Deep and crisp and not even winter

The snow had stopped, so I drove out with my parents - to Altamont (to buy some yarn from the Spinning Room) and to Indian Ladder Farms (to eat lunch in the Yellow Rock Cafe).  Everything was looking clean and sparkling and bright, and really quite wintry considering that officially it is still autumn (if you insist that winter doesn't begin until the solstice).

The Boy wanted to make a trip to Barnes & Noble to buy a book (shh, it's a secret) for his sister, so we braved the rush-hour/Christmas-shopping traffic and packed parking lots and did that, and got back in time for dinner and for me to get to a meeting.
