Whimsy, on a whim
Eddie Izzard is in town - for one night only, performing at the Palace Theatre in Albany on his US tour. At the last minute the Man and I got it into our heads to go and see him, so we did.
Mr. Izzard is a clever and funny man. Watching his stand-up routine in full is a bit like being marinated in a vat of whimsy for two and half hours. Not unpleasant while it's happening, but slightly leaves you wondering why.
Anyway, there were some good laughs. We're a bit fearful for him, taking his atheist banter and transvestite references to the deep South and American heartland later in the tour, but perhaps he'll still manage to charm? Well, at least he'll always have Albany - he certainly got a warm reception here.
