"It's beginning to look a lot like Swishmas..."

...sings the Girl, tossing her newly trimmed hair.  It's the first time she's had it cut in four years.  She had about an inch and half of split ends snipped off, so of course to her it feels like a crewcut, but she doesn't look too upset about it, does she?

The other big event of the day was the 3rd Graders' Electricity Fair.  I toured the exhibits in the Boy's room - it's fair to say the place was buzzing, metaphorically and also literally.

Cardboard houses with working doorbells, quiz machines, a flashlight made out of two drinks cans, a cunning bedroom security system... The Boy's wasn't the only telegraph machine, but it was the only one with lights and sound, so he achieved some kudos for that.

I was impressed both by the ingenuity of all the projects and the confident delivery of the kids as they described their devices: they were all rightly proud of themselves.  Truly hands-on learning at its best.
