In my heart I feel all my Christmas gifts should be "handmade, local or Fair". However, knowing how little thanks I'd get for that from at least two close family members, I dragged myself off to the mall and the Big Boxes today and was able to cross off a couple of much-desired "factory-made in China" items that way. Ah well.
Unlike in the UK, the kids are still at school and won't finish until Thursday. It doesn't look like we'll be getting a snow day anytime soon either (Britain has nicked all the snow, hrrumph) so I do have a few days left in hand to see to the rest of the festive preparations. Phew - still time to write all those "Happy New Year" cards then.
Meanwhile, the Man had to get up at 5:30am today in order to travel south for a meeting. And tomorrow morning he reckons he'll be getting up between 1:15 and 5:01 in order to witness a lunar eclipse. Place your bets now on whether he'll make it or not... The odds are strong that I won't.
