"Mum, can you help me clean the bathroom?"
Well, how's that for a turn up? Had I mentioned anything about cleaning a bathroom?
It wasn't the Girl, who is not particular about her living space and would be happy enough in a sty (or at any rate a goat pen). Nope, it was the Boy, willingly brandishing a cleaning sponge and an old toothbrush and ready to scrub out the grungier corners of the bath-tub.
He did a good job of it, too, wiping surfaces, weeding out empty shampoo bottles and even gathering up all the bath-towels and taking them downstairs to the wash. Between us we had that bathroom sparkling! I wonder if I can persuade him to clean the oven next?
I expect that came as a big surprise Long may his enthusiasm continue
