Bookstore

What with the skating competition and the epic amusement park trip, we didn't have a whole lot of time left over for sightseeing around Harrisburg (Pennsylvania's state capital).  However, we did manage to spend an hour in one of the world's most beautiful bookstores, the Midtown Scholar.

As much a social venue and meeting place as a bookshop (it includes a cafe/bakery and plentiful places to sit, read, play chess or watch a reading or performance), the main part of the building is a barn-like construction with a lofty beamed ceiling.  But there are galleries and side-rooms and winding underground passageways to secret extra rooms...and of course, books and books and books. (Including ancient complete sets of Encyclopedia Britannica, yours for $350).

 All in all quite a magical shop.  We were excited to discover it.
