Today has mainly revolved around skating. The Girl had her lesson at 1pm, then asked to go back for the public skate session later in the afternoon.
Public skate on a Saturday is a bit hectic and not entirely relaxing - it's a complete mixture of first-timers, speed skaters and everything in between. You never know who you're going to run into - sometimes literally. Tiny boys in ice-hockey helmets come zipping round your ankles and teenagers fall across your path. There's no practising tricks, just head in one direction and keep your wits about you.
Despite all the hazards, the Girl and I skated our way round and round for an hour without incident. I really enjoy watching my daughter skate. She has no desire to perform or take exams, but she loves to be on the ice for the sheer pleasure of it and it's great to see her so happy.
