I spent most of the day sewing, though as it's a Christmas surprise for someone I can't say any more about that.
Our clocks haven't gone back yet so these days it's pretty dark when we first get up. This morning I peered out across the backyard and thought I saw an ENORMOUS squirrel creeping along the fence. But when I looked again, I realised it was just a deer (and no, it wasn't actually on the fence, it was wandering across the yard beyond ours).
Deer are something of a nuisance here to be honest, eating shrubs and spreading ticks (though who lived round here first? Not humans with decorative garden borders, I think), yet I still feel excited when I see them around the place. There's something magical about such large wild animals sharing 'our' habitat.
