Not in my front yard!

I've been struggling to stay awake all day, having slept rather badly. Still, I managed to get to school assembly, buy some warm outerwear, shop for groceries, visit the library and put the car in for its annual safety test. And I collected Mum and Dad from the station after their very successful trip to New York City.

The other day I saw a bumper sticker exhorting me to 'Practise random acts of gardening'. Now, my Mum does a bit of this in her neighbourhood - adopts neglected municipal roundabouts, weeds them and plants spring bulbs. But random acts? I think that's just asking for trouble. Randomly plant dahlias in my lawn, for example, and frankly I won't thank you.
