The Man writes... today the Boy and I watched an air show at the
Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. The show featured a remarkable collection of working aircraft from WW1 and
before, including bi-planes, tri-planes and the oldest flying plane in North America (built in 1909).
Sadly the aircraft went through their paces in the context of a baffling panto-style melodrama - featuring a love triangle between such characters as Sir Percy Goodfellow, Trudie Truelove and the evil (German) Black Baron - which the Boy described as "really lame". Call me po-faced, but isn't booing Germans a bit
old?
Meanwhile
adds Albaniana the Girl and I drove on to the town of Rhinebeck. It's a very attractive small town, completely walkable and lacking in chain-stores, a reminder that American retail isn't
all fast food outlets and malls.
