We're just back from Hammonasset in Connecticut, and very nice it was. It's a State Park with a lovely long sandy beach on the Long Island Sound. Unfortunately we weren't the only ones to have discovered it and it was crowded in a way we're not used to seeing over here. Very cosmopolitan, though - all around us were groups speaking in Spanish, Russian, Korean...
As well as the beach and sea-swimming (but watch out for jelly-fish!) there was a great little nature centre. Also space to fly a kite - so we did.
